NMC appeals CM to implement recommendations of 7th pay commission


JAMMU, Nov 6: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) has appealed to Chief Minister to initiate the process of implementation of the recommendations of the 7th pay commission in the State as the same have already been implemented by the Central as well as several State Governments in favor of their employees and pensioners three months ago.

This was stated by NMC President Subash Shastri, while addressing a well attended NMC workers meeting here.

Shastri said that further delay in the implementation of the 7th pay commission recommendations would result in the pilling of the dues and arrears. He said that even the States which had lot of financial crunch have already implemented the recommendations of the 7th pay commission and as such urged the State Government to follow the suit and implement the recommendation of the seventh pay commission as a good will gesture without further loss of time.

Regarding the regularization of sixty one thousand daily rated workers working in the various departments of the State Government, Shastri stated that it is unfortunate that despite repeated promises both by the previous and present dispensations this long pending issue is laying unaddressed and hoped that since the present Government has shown concern towards the issue, the daily rated workers will be regularized at the earliest.

He pointed out that more than eight lakh families comprising of State Government employees, daily rated workers and pensioners are dependent on salary, wages and pension, therefore the State Government should not ignore the genuine demands of these categories.

Shastri also demanded removal of pay anomalies amongst the clerical cadre, release of all pending dues of daily rated workers beside implementation of Central Government decision of enhancing the minimum wages of Rs 350 per day in Jammu and Kashmir and enhancement of medical allowance to Rs 2,000 per month.

Among those, who spoke on the occasion included Rajan Babu Khajuria, Sunil Kochhar, BS Jamwal, Lal Singh, Subash Sharma, Surrinder Kumar, Mohammad Shafi, Darshan Bawa, Suraj Parkash, Madan Lal, Sukhdev Singh and Rattan Lal.
