Madhya Pradesh
government is likely to make its staff happy in the upcoming festive season.
Sources said the state government is working on strategies to increase the
Dearness Allowance (DA) to its employees.
Sources in the
state government said increasing DA is on the cards. The government has
already announced exemption of sugar and cloth from Value Added Tax (VAT).
If the state
government employees are given DA at par with those of the centre, MP
government will have to bear an extra burden amounting to Rs 1820 crore. The
central government employees currently get six per cent extra DA compared to
their counterparts in the state government.
In addition to
a likely increase in DA, sources also said the salaries for the month of
October could be released before Deepawali, in view of the upcoming
festival.
