AICPIN for Agricultural and Rural Labourers on Base 1986-87=100 – September, 2011


 The All-India Consumer Price Index Numbers for Agricultural Labourers and Rural Labourers (Base: 1986-87=100) for September,  2011 increased by 5 points and 4 points respectively to stand at 615( Six hundred and fifteen)  points for Agricultural Labourers  and  614 (Six hundred and forteen) points for Rural Labourers.
               
                The rise in index varied from State to State.  In case of Agricultural Labourers, it recorded an increase between 1 to 11 points in 18 States and a decrease between 1 to 3 points in 2 States.  Haryana with 685 points topped the index table whereas Himachal Pradesh with the index level of 503 points stood at the bottom.

                 In case of Rural Labourers, it recorded an increase between 1 to 12 points in 18 States and a decrease between 1 to 3 points in 2 States.   Haryana with 679 points topped the index table whereas Himachal Pradesh with the index level of 526 points stood at the bottom.

                 The Consumer Price Index Numbers for Agricultural Labourers in respect of Karnataka Stateregistered the maximum increase of 11 points mainly due to increase in the prices of jowar, gram dal, onion, chillies dry, gur, firewood and Dr.’s fees. The Consumer Price Index Numbers for Rural Labourers in respect ofRajasthan State registered the maximum increase of 12 points mainly due to increase in the prices of wheatatta, gram dal, basen, milk, chillies dry, Vegetables & Fruits, firewood, leather shoes and bus fare.  On the other hand the Consumer Price Index Numbers for Agricultural Labourers and Rural Labourers in respect of Kerala state recorded the highest decrease of 3 points each mainly due to decrease in the prices of rice, coconut oil, turmeric and fish fresh.

                Point to point rate of inflation based on the CPI-AL and CPI-RL decreased from 9.52% and 9.71% in August, 2011 to 9.43% and 9.25% respectively in September, 2011. Inflation based on food index of CPI-AL and CPI–RL are 6.48% and 6.65% respectively in September, 2011.
