Railway Revenue Earnings Up by 8.24 Per Cent During April 2010 – February 2011






   The total approximate earnings of Indian Railways on originating basis during 1st April 2010 – 28th February, 2011 were Rs. 84382.99 crore compared to Rs. 77958.06 crore during the same period last financial year, registering an increase of 8.24 per cent. 

   The total goods earnings have gone up from Rs. 52595.86 crore during 1st April 2009 – 28th February, 2010 to Rs. 56382.02 crore during 1st April 2010 – 28th February, 2011, showing an increase of 7.20 per cent. 

 

  The total passenger revenue earnings during the first eleven months of the financial year 2010-11 were Rs. 23600.40 crore compared to Rs. 21424.52 crore during the same period last fiscal, registering an increase of 0.15 per cent. 

   The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs. 2297.06 crore during April 2010- February 2011 compared to Rs. 2083.79 crore during the same period last financial year, showing an increase of 10.23 per cent. 

   The total approximate number of passengers booked during April 2010-February 2011 was 7206.30 million compared to 6777.13 million during the same period last financial year, showing an increase of 6.33 per cent. In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked during April 2010-February 2011 was 3719.11 million and 3487.19 million compared to 3518.00 million and 3259.13 million during the same period last financial year, showing an increase of 5.72 per cent and 7.00 per cent respectively.
