Patna, Dec 6 (PTI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said the state
government will soon take a decision on extending the retirement age of
university teachers from 62 to 65 years.
It was the “need of the hour” to extend the retirement age of the university
teachers from 62 to 65 years, Kumar said in the legislative council in reply
to a question raised by the JD(U) MLC Narendra Prasad Singh.
The state government will take a decision in the matter very soon, he said.
“The state government has, from time to time, expressed its intention in
both houses of the state legislature for increasing the retirement age of
the university and college teachers.”
Certain glitches in extending the retirement age of university and colleges
teachers have been caused by pendency of litigations in the courts on the
issue, the chief minister said.
