The State Cabinet, which met in Jammu under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah approved on Friday the recommendations of the pay anomaly committee set up by the Finance Department. The cabinet also amended J&K Panchayati Raj Act, thereby recommending creation of State Election Commission. Fourteen months after its constitution, the Pay Anomaly Committee placed its recommendations before the Cabinet for consideration and approval.
The Committee was constituted on October 8 last year to examine various anomalies in the existing pay structure and pay anomalies following implementation of Sixth Pay Revision in the state.
The Committee, headed by Commissioner/ Secretary Finance, Sudhanshu Pandey, is learnt to have recommended pay scales of AEO/HDO of Agriculture and equivalent at Rs 9300-Rs 34800 with GP of Rs 4800.
In respect of the demand made by the clerical cadre, the Committee has observed that they are already at par with scales at the Central Government level, sources said.
The Committee, sources said, has also recommended upgradation of the post of Junior Engineer to the pay band of Rs 9300-Rs 34800 with GP of Rs 4200.
Meanwhile, the cabinet has also approved enhancement of retainership and counsel fee in respect of Law Officers of Law Department.
In another decision, sources told Press Bureau of India, the Cabinet approved creation of a post of Additional Advocate General, headquartered at New Delhi and additional standing counsel for the State at the Supreme Court.
The cabinet also approved amendments in the J&K Panchayati Raj Act-1989 by which setting up of a State Election Commission has been recommended.
In yet another decision, the Cabinet approved the extension in the services of Bashir Ahmad, IAS, Commissioner, Sales Tax and reemployment of Abdul Hakim, Deputy Director, District Motor Garages, Leh.
