Railway Revenue Earnings up by 5.81%

   During the Period 11th – 20th September 2010 The total approximate earnings of Indian Railways on originating basis during the period from 11th to 20th September 2010 were ` 2297.01 crore compared to ` 2170.90 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 5.81 per cent.

    The total goods earnings have gone up from ` 1487.33 crore during the period from 11th to 10th September 2009 to ` 1497.63 crore during 11th September to 20th September 2010, showing an increase of 0.69 per cent. The total passenger revenue earnings during the period 11th to 20th September 2010 were ` 713.45 crore compared to ` 601.68 crore during the same period last year, reflecting an increase of 18.58 per cent. The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to ` 59.67 crore during this period compared to ` 62.60 crore during the same period last year, showing a decrease 4.68 per cent.

    The total approximate number of passengers booked during the period 11th to 20th September 2010 were 232.22 million compared to 197.57 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 17.54 per cent. In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked during 11th to 20th September, 2010 were 127.59 million and 104.63 million compared to 106.47 million and 91.10 million during the same period last year, registering an increase of 19.84 per cent and 14.85 per cent respectively.
