Jammu and Kashmir government is providing
financial assistance of Rs 56.73 crore annually to over 1.49 lakh beneficiaries
under various pension schemes, a minister said here.
"The state government is providing Rs 56.73 crore financial assistance to nearly
1.5 lakh beneficiaries in the state. While the Central government is providing
Rs 30 crore for these pension schemes, the share of the state government is Rs
20.66 crore," State Minister for Social Welfare Sakina Ittoo said yesterday
after a review meeting held here.
Giving the breakup of the spendings in the social welfare sector, she said Rs
50.31 crore is being provided annually as monthly pension to 1029 lakh old aged
persons under Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS).
"Rs 1.84 crore is being given to 4730 widows under Indira Gandhi National Widow
Pension Scheme (IGNWPS) and Rs 1.
