CHILD CARE LEAVE

The leader of staff side JCM  National Council has raised some issues in 46th meeting of National Council  JCM. One of the issue was regarding Child Care Leave, As he said in the  meeting the clarificatory order issued on       18-11-2008 by Government,  nullified the benefit extended to the women employees as for as child care  leave is concerned.

An order was issued on 11-9-2008 by  DOP&T regarding recommendations of the Sixth Central Pay commission relating  to enhancement of the quantum of Maternity Leave and iitroduction of Child
Care Leave in respect of Central Government Employees. In which it has been  clearly stated that women Employees having minor children may be granted  Child Care Leave for a maximum of Two Years(i.e.730days) for taking care up  to two children whether for rearing or to look after any of their needs like  examinations, sickness etc
But the Clarificatory order issued on  18 th November 2008, contradicting with the intention of 6CPC recommendation  and the above said order by saying CCL can be availed only if the employee  concerned has no Earned Leave at her credit.
Hence the entire community of women  employees of central government goes along with the staff side leader and  wanted the clarificatory orders in this regard to be rescinded.  If the  Government has any practical difficulties in implementing the orders issued  in this regard, the same may be discussed with the Staff Side.
